Privacy Statement

We collect this information under Australian Privacy Principle 3 for the purposes outlined below. Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:

• Updates mailing list
  • Your email address
• Application
  • Your name and contact details (email, phone if provided)
  • Professional/academic background and AI safety experience
  • Your responses to application questions
• Registration (if accepted)
  • Any dietary requirements and accessibility needs

If you don't provide required information, we may not be able to process your application or provide appropriate event arrangements.

We use your information to:

• Send you updates about the Unconference, if you've signed up for them
• Assess applications and select participants
• Contact you about your application status
• Organise event logistics (catering, name badges, etc.)
• Send event updates and information
• Send you post-event surveys for feedback to improve future events

We may also use aggregated and anonymised information to report on the event's success.

Updates mailing list: if you sign up for Unconference updates, we'll use your email address for Unconference updates only. We'll ask before adding you to any other AISANZ communications, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. If you're already subscribed to AISANZ communications, signing up here doesn't change that.

We do not sell your information or share it with third parties for their marketing purposes.

Your information is accessed only by:

• The event organising team (Michael Kerrison and Alexander Saeri)
• Service providers necessary for event delivery, including:
• Mailchimp (mailing list and email delivery) - servers may be located outside Australia
• Our event application, registration and ticketing platform - servers may be located outside Australia
• Google Workspace (data storage and email) - servers may be located outside Australia

When we disclose information to overseas recipients, we remain accountable for compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

You can:

• Request a copy of the information we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information at any time (before, during, or after the event)
• Withdraw consent for us to contact you about the Unconference or future events

Data quality: We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect is accurate, up-to-date, and complete. Please let us know if your details change.

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including:

• Storing data in password-protected systems
• Limiting access to the organising team only
• Using established, secure platforms (Google Workspace, Mailchimp, our registration platform)

We may update this statement occasionally. We'll note the update date at the top of this page.

If you have concerns about how we've handled your personal information:
